An interesting thing happened on the way to Newport News, Virginia. I found a connection between a Civil War ironclad ship, a often misunderstood mathematical formula, and it led me to ask some theological questions that may be able to “hit” us all where we are currently living!
Two videos follow: The first is an abbreviated tour of the USS Monitor exhibits at the Mariners Museum in Newport News, with some theological reflection both before and after. The second is a full blown walk through of the museum – 43 minutes of seeing just about everything there is to see. You might not have time for the full tour – hence the shorter, more inclusive version. But if you are, like me, interested in stuff like Civil War ironclads, ships and sailing (and an inspiring look at an actual America’s Cup Catamaran – the Oracle boat that won the cup in 2013!), you might really like the second video tour as well!
