What is it with some people who can’t seem to figure out that their 15 minutes of fame are over? Al Sharpton, Newt Gingrich, Ann Coulter, Matt Drudge, Joathan Chait, and Allan Lichtman come immediately to mind. But of all these “has beens” who should be “now gones” the top of the list is clearly and certainly owned by James Carville. If ever there were a tired, old voice that needs to now be quiet, it’s him.
He was at it again yesterday; pontificating how Democrats and Liberals need to “play possum” and shut up because Trump’s administration “will collapse in 30 Days.”
Really? You’re certain of that Mr. Carville? Maybe about as certain as you were in your October 23, 2024 opinion piece in the New York Times, telling us “Three Reasons I’m Certain Kamala Harris Will Win?” (And by the way, Mr. Carville? (By the way; telling us on January 2nd of this year that you were wrong was nothing more than a proclamation of the obvious; we’d already figured that out.)
But now you’re looking for a fresh mainline of fame and influence on the TV, online and in the news and somehow, this time, we are supposed to believe you? Like You’re James Carville and are always right? No offense sir… but your 15 minutes are up. How about you go away and pass the hyperbole baton on to someone else? Write that book that no one wants to read and no one will buy, go back to the bayou and hunt alligators or something, spend your time looking over all the political photos from the 80s and early 90s, pour yourself into your classes at LSU (where at least you’ll have a captive audience to listen to you), do basically anything you want… But shut the fuck up! No one wants to hear your pontificating predictions, which are just as likely to be false as they might be true. Flipping a coin in public doesn’t make you a sage, Mr. Carville; it makes you look like a fool who can’t deal with being old and out of touch.
