The spear in the masthead is a hammer welded spearhead from the Kushan Empire dated to the 1st or 2nd century C.E.  (It doesn’t take much imagination to realize that this spear is close to the spear used for THIS, something I spend a bunch of my time thinking about.)

A couple of things about “surfing” on the tip of the spear:

You usually spend the majority of your time “out ahead” of most people.  (Which has both its good and bad points!)

You also end up being the first one nailed to the wall.
